The Department of Psychology will accept applications to the M.A. programs in Psychology for the 2014-2015 academic year. The tracks in the Psychological Sciences program, namely, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Social Psychology, and Psychobiology will accept new students into the program. The M.A. program in Clinical Psychology and the PhD programs will NOT be accepting new students.
Note:The candidates who have not received their B.A. degree at the time of application will be admitted to the program only on the condition that they hold a minimum GPA of 2.5 at the time of graduation.

Since BUEPT will be held on June 4th, 2014 (see academic calendar at http://www.boun.edu.tr/tr-TR/Content/Akademik/Akademik_Takvim/2014) the candidates are advised to include in their application package another document (e.g., TOEFL) that certifies their English proficiency. Those candidates who prefer to take BUEPT must be successful in this exam in order to be enrolled in the program.

Please note that if ALES/GRE and English proficiency (e.g., TOEFL) scores are not available for submission at the time of application, they should be submitted to the Registrar’s Office by August 28, 2014 for the student to be able to enroll in the program.
Candidates holding a degree from a different major:
In case these students are admitted to the program, they take remedial courses for a year. A minimum final GPA of 2.50 from these courses is required for enrollment in the program. Also, if the student fails in any one of these courses, s/he will drop out of the program.
The written exam:
The written exam will be in English. Applicants should certify their English proficiency in order to be admitted to the program (see Required Documents for Application). The applicants will take the specific written exam for the subfield that they have applied for. The exam will consist of essay type questions on both content and research methodology. Those applicants who pass the written exam will qualify to take the oral exam.
Resources to study for the exam:
The applicants can use books on Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods and introductory textbooks on the subfield of interest to prepare for the written exam. There is no particular list of books that the department recommends.
