What We Are Doing...
In our Cognitive Processes Laboratory we are doing mainly basic but also some applied research. Our research population includes infants, very young children, young adults and the elderly, and our main areas of research are:
Memory:
- Autobiographical memory
- Memory processes & levels of awareness
- Memory for music
- Metamemory
- Memory processes in psychopathology
- Visual & spatial memory
- Working memory
Executive Functions:
- Inhibition
- Visual & auditory attention
Cognitive Development:
- Working memory processes in very young children
- Development of executive function in children
- Theory of mind
- Language acquisition
Neuropsychological Testing:
- Memory, attention and executive functions in children
- Academic performance related difficulties (e. g., ADHD, LD)
- Early detection of pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) symptoms
In addition, we are running joint projects with Dr. Canbeyli’s Psychobiology Laboratory. Our laboratory is used in support of our Psychological Sciences M.A. Program and is offering experimental research experience for students at the undergraduate level. Besides, we are involved in interdisciplinary projects with the Cognitive Science Program, the Biomedical Engineering Institute, and the Computer Engineering Department.
